Where's the innocence gone?

This evening, we had some innocent fun. Oh yes, it was me and my pals here at college. We chose to play a game from our childhood, something I used to be really fond of. And during those few minutes, each one of us was just as happy as innocent kids are. As we closed it, once again we were all serious individuals with loads of thoughts in our minds, to each one his own. And this is what left me wondering long enough, to come up with the lines that proceed.

Why is it so that as we grow older, one of the purest qualities of human nature, the quality of innocence drifts away gradually? Why is every grown-up so different from his childhood? Or are we all just actors, hiding our real self, adorning our cloak of maturity and wisdom, because this is what the society we live in expects us to be like?

As we grow, there are so many biases that we face. For instance when parents say,” Oh come on! You are not a kid anymore” or “Don’t be childish!” or “You are not mature enough. Look at this friend of yours who is so wise and responsible, takes his decisions for himself”.

Wish things had been different. Wish there was no such obligation to adorn this cloak. Wish my childhood had stayed longer and if not, wish at least the society wouldn't have looked askance on grown-ups who chose to stay the same, with their child-like innocence on.

Hi siddharth …… it’s me again reviewing your article :P :P…(as always)…..the reason I most of the time manage to go through your writings is ,all most every the time you come up with a unique issue …..:)..Which we might have forgotten or it might have just been invisible though seemingly in front of our eyes…………
Well I had started to reply to this article few days back but, due to time constraint, could not complete it that day …..but here I am…….. Back to share my view…………………
As always a very sensitive or rather innocent topic you have chosen………..  I do agree with the points you have portrayed. In fact would like to add a few too…………. I agree there is a small kid inside everyone still present that is always waiting for a chance to come out and live life as he wants’….
But we all no doubt hide him inside just to win the so called competitive race of technology or life, just to be sure that we don’t miss any chance because of any stupidity in fount of society… I guess we are not doing any injustice being serious regarding our social life or just to meet our standards……. Only thing which we must regret is that in this so called race we are just living our life for other’s u can say (family, society etc ….etc) ………………………………..
I believe to make a fare balance in this world,…… we meet some people just by coincidence and we don’t care what they are doing in their social life how are they with the society or with their family,…. The only thing matters is, we feel lively in there company…we are not any employee, employer, daughter, son..Husband or wife…we are just what we areeee.. They are none other than our friends…… friends. Help us to discover ourselves ……. They accept us the way we are…….. they give love……doesn’t expect it back………. Don’t want anything else……….other than……. Our friendship……
Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born………. Just hold this friendship forever….. Keep in touch …….. That’s what is required to nourish it… Neither any degree, nor any experience………….. : P :P :P
Hope you too agree with this…
Keep bringing up unique topics like the one above………  ………….will be happy to read……

Hey nice thoughts .....something which i want to add is that this world needs a lot of courage, knowledge and experience to face day to day difficulties. One can not deal with these things only by childish ignorance. Just if u really want to be alive a child within u then always follow ur heart and never hurt anyone specially them who love u.

Hey Sid! I am simply taken aback by your profound observations ....its true we often forget our real self as we grew up and become a part of the rat race but we dont know what our destination is! The ultimate thing that any individual want is happiness but they forget that its not a thing of attainment through some action or deed in our life its the very essence of our being.Often when things happen our way it make us happy and smile which is temporary, it is soon taken over by different want on which we again depend on for our happiness and smile ...... is our happiness so cheap? Our childhood is happy n innocent because we are devoid of impurities in our heart ....as n when we become impure our innocence vanish away...isn't it?

@ My anonymous friend: thnx for bringing across the pinch of reality..dats what is scary..:)

@ Charu: Thnx for putting ur views here.. however I would disagree with your last line.. I don't believe in someone's heart having impurities or things of that sort..rather its the wisdom(or the so called gyan) that we come across as we grow up, we start judging everything by these new set of eyes..and thats where the innocence starts drifting away.

Hey Sid from impurities i meant feelings like jealousy, hatred, animosity and all other sorts of things which makes our vision small.. yes its "sort of gyan" only which we imbibe naturally from our surroundings and become judgmental and start finding ulterior motives behind the every good deed done to us by anyone. That is when we loose our innocence.
